PaymentLOCK’s John Hong discusses InfoSec at Testbed Vegas July event

John Hong, CTO of PaymentLOCK joins the Testbed Vegas Vegas Travel and Hospitality Tech event on July 30th.

John’s career spans the operator and vendor worlds of hospitality technology built over two decades. With such a background he brings dual perspectives to the discussion on information security both as a direct practitioner and in the role of overseeing organizations efforts to build execute information security policy and processes.

He is currently the CTO of across industry technology provider, PaymentLOCK. The company provides core expertise in the area of Card Not Present transaction technology. This particular area of payment processing is challenging and specifically so for the hospitality industry, often considered to be one of the least secure handlers of credit card transactions by industry. Among many aspects of payment technology they assist business operators to place regulatory satisfying technology processing and security around these processes.

John oversees the company technology direction encompassing the disciplines development, regulatory liaison and compliance and process improvement for the company and their customer base.

Prior to John’s current role he possesses direct experience as a technology leader in the hospitality industry providing specific industry experience to appreciate the challenges of information security. In his prior role John was the head of information technology for hospitality and food and beverage innovator, SBE Entertainment Group. SBE stewards such well known brands as SLS, Redbury, Mondrian, and Delano as well as it’s stable of unique branded products around the world. The company also develops food and beverage brands best highlighted by the Bazaar in collaboration with Chef Jose Andres, and nightlife brand, Hyde.

John joined the company to oversee their direction and implementation of the company information security and compliance with a specific focus on payment card processes for the international group. He subsequently moved into the Director of IT role for the group leading technology from the strategic direction through to execution of corporate technology initiatives, projects and properties.

Before joining SBE he worked with RCM Technologies as a consultant in the company’s information security practice. RCM Technologies specializes in technology services to the aerospace, health care and energy sectors.

With a rich background in information security and compliance from dual perspectives Testbed Vegas is looking forward to John’s insight on the topic of information security in travel & hospitality.
