Maritza Paez shares her vision for hospitality at Testbed Vegas in August

Las Vegas native, Maritza Paez will join the panel for Testbed Vegas’ Vegas Travel and Hospitality Tech event on August 27th at Desert Winds Coffee Roasters.

Maritza is an up and coming hospitality industry aspirant who looks forward to building her career in the Travel & Hospitality industry. Currently balancing full time employment with a heavy study program at The College of Southern Nevada, Maritza is pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management as well as additional qualifications in Tourism and Convention and Event Management. Maritza plans to transfer her studies to UNLV in 2020.

In preparation for entering the industry Maritza has held roles in the leisure space with Clark County and the City of Henderson. She was one of the first employees at valley family leisure center, FlipNOut Extreme for the opening of their Henderson unit. Maritza is currently working with Mater Academy in Las Vegas in administration and customer service where she was recently recognized as Employee of the Month.

As extra-curricular activities she was accepted into Clark County’s Summer Business Institute which manages internship programs for Las Vegas businesses, working with the District Attorney of Family Services in customer facing roles assisting with cases. As part of the program she led the planning committee for the School Safety Summit, raising awareness for safety in the valley schools held at Las Vegas City Hall with 400 attendees.

In preparation for a career in the travel and hospitality industry she traveled extensively in 2019 to gain an appreciation of the experience, visiting several international and domestic destinations including Cuba, New York and Nevada’s Lake Tahoe.

Martiza’s formative education was taken at Las Vegas’ Basic Academy graduating in 2018. She also held the role of student President of JAG Nevada 2016-2018, and participated in the DECA leadership program, The Public Education Foundation’s We R’ Community and US Department of Education, Trio program. She graduated from Valley High School where she was on the school Cheer team and the United States Army JROTC program. At graduation she was also invited to additional graduations with BCON and the Hispanic Educators of Nevada graduation.

Maritza continues her association with the JAG Nevada program in Las Vegas and was recently recognized in the media as a success story of the JAG program by Executive Director Rene Cantu.

Maritza is an energetic person with a personal drive for success in industry. Testbed Vegas is looking forward to hearing her thoughts and aspirations for a career in the hospitality industry from the perspective of the next generation entering the workforce.
