Gavin McPhail brings an extensive career in the Casino and Gaming industry to the discussion at Testbed Vegas’ Vegas Travel & Hospitality Tech event on 29th of October at Desert Wind Coffee Roasters.
Gavin is a 30 year veteran of the Casino and Gaming industry with a specialization in Table, Cage & Junket operations. He is currently the Director of Product for premier gaming tech vendor, Aristocrat’s Table Gaming solutions with their most recent innovation being the ‘Smart Table’ where RFID technology is used to manage chip and player tracking. Prior to joining Aristocrat he invested 12 years in product leadership of IGT’s Table & Cage suite of products.
Gavin entered the gaming industry in Australia in 1989 with Jupiter’s, at the time Australia’s highest profile Casino property on the Gold Coast initially in Food & Beverage and migrating to gaming operations as a Dealer. He then took his experience to the Cruise industry joining Carnival Cruise Lines as a Dealer and on his second engagement as Casino Manager on the lines Caribbean and Mediterranean programs.
In 1994 he joined Crown Resorts as member of the opening team for their flagship Casino property in Crown Casino & Towers in Melbourne as Gaming Supervisor, and returned post Carnival for a second engagement, again as Gaming Supervisor through to 2001.
Leveraging his gaming operations experience he relocated to England joining prominent gaming equipment and technology manufacturer, John Huxley. He returned to Australia joining with Australian Leisure & Hospitality Group managing the operations of their hotel and slot machine establishments in Brisbane. Winning a Green Card to the United States in the lottery, he then relocated to Las Vegas subsequently joining Caesar’s Entertainment’s Rio Las Vegas as Gaming Supervisor before stepping into the technology side of the industry.
Among many achievements he sights leading the development of IGT’s single source products for a global market, and the introduction of the Agility framework to Aristocrat as some of his notable accomplishments.
Originally from Australia he is a second time resident of Las Vegas, living here with his family and fellow Testbed Vegas talent for this months event, Miranda McPhail.
Gavin’s extensive experience in customer facing roles, property openings and a rich background in technology for the gaming industry places him in a preferred position to share his views and observations of the future of the gaming experience. Testbed Vegas looks forward to his insight.
