Christmas with Testbed Vegas – December Recap

What a great end to the year! The community gathered at The Sand Dollar in Las Vegas where owner, Anthony Jamison had fully immersed the venue in the spirit of Christmas with their Miracle on Spring Mountain. Twerking Santa and all the trappings.

We ended the year welcoming new people to the community who have chosen to locate to Nevada to be close to the travel and hospitality technology industry in Las Vegas. Very Testbed Vegas. It’s nice to finish up the year in a slightly less formal way.

Thanks for having us, Anthony!

Martin’s photos below capture the spirit of the evening and the environment well.

We will be back at the end of January with our first session. Stay tuned for the  dates and topic launch!

State of Economic Development in Nevada

Earlier in the month we had the opportunity to attend a session with the state’s incoming Director of the Office of Economic Development.

Newly into the role Mr Michael Brown was most recently the CEO of Barrick Gold. Brown has a deep level of global experience as well as boots on the ground business and residential experience living in southern Nevada with the mining giant.

Michael Brown – Director of Nevada Office of Economic Development

Key on the agenda for the Nevada Office of Economic Development (GOED) is that their activities tie back to the overarching goal of the Sisolak state government focusing on improving the education system in Nevada. Testbed Vegas support’s that objective.

We were encouraged to hear the Directors thoughts around the ‘fortification’ of the southern Nevada economy. Making sure that while we look to bring new industry to the city, we also foster what has already been established. Testbed Vegas highlighted the existing travel and hospitality industry and the opportunity for an industry technology hub in the discussion and we look forward to future dialogue with the Director.

In 2020 the department has a number of trade missions planned with Poland, Japan and Korea and will continue the work done with Israel to date.
